Contracted management of retirement villages
The Selwyn Foundation offers a comprehensive, contracted management service for residential care providers (rest homes, hospitals, aged care facilities) and retirement villages who wish to pursue a long-term association with the Foundation - possibly even subsequent ownership by The Foundation.
Gracedale rest home and hospital in Mt Roskill (Auckland) is currently run under management from The Selwyn Foundation.
The relationship works exceptionally well: Selwyn has expertise in management, implementation of appropriate systems, human resource management (including staff recruitment), compliance, procedures and policies. The Foundation also has sufficient critical mass to negotiate procurement effectively, thereby potentially reducing operating costs for other organisations.
In many cases, smaller aged care organisations (particularly charitable trusts) struggle with the many financial, service and compliance demands in the sector. By centralising functions with The Selwyn Foundation, organisations can be more efficient, act more cost-effectively and plan more competently for the future. In The Selwyn Foundation, many also find a like-minded charitable organisation. Later, organisations may seek to become part of The Selwyn Foundation, and these are relationships the Foundation welcomes.
