Bishop of Christchurch to speak at The Selwyn Foundation 2011 AGM
Date: 31 March 2011
The Selwyn Foundation extends an invitation to all to attend its Annual General Meeting, which will take place in the Nave, Holy Trinity Cathedral, on Wednesday, 20th April (from 2.00pm – 4.00pm).
Our theme this year is ‘Celebrating excellence in aged care’, and we shall review the highlights of 2010 and look forward to building on our reputation for excellence in 2011 and beyond.
The Right Reverend Ross Bay, Bishop of Auckland, will chair the proceedings in his capacity as President of the Foundation, and the worship will be led by The Selwyn Foundation Chaplains.
As our special guest, The Right Reverend Victoria Matthews, Bishop of the Diocese of Christchurch, will speak about the effects of the earthquake on the people of Christchurch, the Church and Clergy - a story that has very strong significance for the whole of New Zealand.
During the event, Bishop Ross and Dr Kay Hawk, Chair of The Selwyn Foundation Board, will present a cheque for $750,000 to Bishop Victoria to be used for the care of older people - and their carers - in the aftermath of the earthquake and to assist in a ministry to the aged in Christchurch. (The Foundation has also made grants to the Christchurch Association of Anglican Women and to the Christchurch City Mission.)
The proceedings will be followed by afternoon tea in the Bishop Monteith Visitor Centre.
For further information, or to register your attendance, please contact Sue Marmont at The Selwyn Foundation on 09 815 4787, email: suem@selwyncare.org.nz, by Wednesday, 13th April 2011.
