Denise Te Tai has over twenty years’ experience in caring for the older person. Originally trained in nursing, Denise has twelve years’ experience in retirement village management, covering all aspects of operational management.
Denise says: “The last few years have seen many changes in the retirement village living sector. With the introduction of the Retirement Village Act and Code of Practice, the industry has finally developed its own identity.
“As I have experience in quality assurance, I was responsible for the development of the Standard Operating Procedures at Selwyn Village which comply with the Retirement Village Act and the Code of Practice. These were tested in 2010 in the RVA accreditation, I am pleased and proud that The Selwyn Foundation passed with flying colours with three years’ attainment – the highest achievement that can be awarded.
“Another highlight of my career is winning the inaugural 2009 ‘RVA Manager of the Year’ award. This is a national competition, in which residents nominate their manager based on certain criteria. The following are excerpts from my submissions to the panel of judges - sayings which I firmly believe in and strive daily to achieve.”
