Assisted living suites at Sarah Selwyn Hospital, Selwyn Village

Selwyn Village offers assisted living suites for residents who have been assessed as requiring hospital-level care. Four premium assisted living suites are available in the new extension of Sarah Selwyn Hospital, each with the following design features:

·         Spacious open plan layout
·         Kitchenette with microwave and fridge
·         dining/lounge area
·         flat-screen TV
·         Sky TV/Freeview connections (excludes subscription costs and receivers)
·         telephone/Internet outlet
·         drapes and sun filter curtains
·         double-glazed windows
·         private entrance
·         courtyard door opening to a shared patio area
·         queen-single, four-way hospital bed
·         large ensuite bathroom/wet area with heated towel rail and walk-in shower
·         furniture available to purchase, if required.

Costs from 1 October 2011

The suites are available to purchase under an Occupation Right Agreement (ORA), with a choice of financial terms, as follows:

·         a lump sum payment of $140,000 and weekly standard fee of $879.62 ($3,822.16 per month)

or

·         daily premium fee of $60 per day, in addition to the weekly standard rate of $879.62.

The ORA allows for the occupancy of the suite for as long as it may be needed and is secured by a first-ranking encumbrance in favour of the Statutory Supervisor (Covenant Trustee Services Ltd).  The price is determined by the Village, and a percentage is retained by the Village upon termination of the Agreement.  This varies according to the length of time the suite has been occupied.

Private charge rates do not include any contribution from the Government or District Health Boards. All fees are subject to change, according to our contract.
