Your host: Debbie Powell, Manager in the Waikato

Debbie Powell, a resident of the Waikato (Cambridge) since 1985, sings the praises of living there in retirement. She has overseen residents into villas in both Selwyn Wilson Carlile (Hamilton) and Selwyn St Andrew's (Cambridge). She believes the Waikato is a wonderful, warm and friendly place for people to live when they retire.  The spirit of the place is amazing, and people are happy and welcoming.

Debbie holds a Diploma in Business Studies and Accounting.  She has been with Selwyn St Andrew's Village for thirteen years and has been manager for the past seven years. In 2010, she won the INsite magazine/Retirement Village Association ‘Manager of the Year’ category for a mid-sized village. Debbie was nominated by the residents and staff of the village, and the award is an acknowledgement of her innovation and best practice in retirement village management.
