About Gracedale, Mt Roskill, Auckland

Gracedale (built in 2004) is a modern, purpose built resthome and hospital complex in Auckland’s Mt Roskill. This is a light, bright state-of-the-art care facility which is managed by Selwyn Foundation Group and owned by an independent trust. The atmosphere is warm and caring and the lovely design and layout of the buildings at the foot of Mt Roskill gives it a charming, quiet air.

Gracedale offers respectful care to elderly residents.

The grounds of Gracedale are beautifully landscaped, peaceful and private. There are places to sit and contemplate, and places for residents to grow plants in pots.

Selwyn Foundation’s management contract with Gracedale ensures staff draw from Selwyn’s expertise and experience, and utilise Selwyn’s management, quality system and care philosophy.

Resthome

Gracedale has a 34 bedroom resthome and hospital complex, which is divided into four suites or wings. Each suite represents a small ‘community’ and has its own community and dining room, with tea and coffee making facilities.

Each bedroom is spacious and has an ensuite, an external door opening to a patio, a phone line, Sky TV link and internet access.

Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms with pictures, photos and mementos.

The caring staff includes registered nurses an qualified caregivers.

Facilities and Catering

a private phone may be installed in rooms (charged through Telecom). A communal phone is available in the dining room of each suite.
newspapers can be delivered on request
appointments such as for hair, podiatrist, physiotherapy, dentist, optician or doctor can be arranged via the receptionist
all diets and appetites are catered for, and a registered dietician is on hand for advice. If guests visit for lunch or dinner, they are welcome
Gracedale has full underfloor heating for extra comfort
All laundry is done on the premises
the resthome has smoke detectors and sprinklers

Activities

weekly happy hours, reading, crosswords, bingo, inter-house quizzes are organised
outings and shopping trips, and walks are also organised by Gracedale staff
special events for Mother’s Day, Easter, St Patrick’s Day and so on are held to celebrate
activities also include: art, billiards, bingo, board games, bowls, bridge, cards, classical music, concerts, craft, dancing, entertainment, exercise classes, jigsaws, mah jong, movies, music, petanque, pool, reading, sing-alongs, reading.
