Selwyn Village Rest Home Care

There are two rest homes at Selwyn Village:  Kerridge House and Caswell House.

Kerridge House
Kerridge House is a 61 bed rest home with lovely grounds, a pleasant outlook from all rooms and a warm, friendly interior. Rooms have:  heating, wardrobes, bathrooms with heat lamps, showers and washbasins. 

Kerridge also has two lounges and two activity lounges.  There are also four pleasant outside ‘nooks’ with enclosed gardens. A library and coffee making facilities are available within the house.

Caswell House
Caswell House is a 104 bed rest home with  a fresh up to date interior.  All rooms are single with their own adjoining toilet and hand basin.  There are also two flats available for married couples.  Caswell House has many small lounges, two generous conservatories, and a library.

Facilities and Catering

• a private phone may be installed in any room (rentals are charged to residents through Telecom)
• newspapers can be delivered on request
• appointments such as for hair, podiatrist, physiotherapy, dentist, optician or doctor can be arranged via the receptionist
• shopping can be organised via the on site Mini Market
• special diets can be catered for.
• if guests visit for lunch or dinner they can often be catered for
• both houses have smoke detectors and sprinklers

Activities

• weekly happy hours, reading, crosswords, bingo, inter-house quizzes are organised
• outings and shopping trips, and walks are also organised by Selwyn staff
• special events for Mother’s Day, Easter, St Patrick’s Day and so on are held to celebrate
• activities also include: art, billiards, bingo, board games, bowls, bridge, cards, classical music, concerts, craft, dancing, entertainment, exercise classes, jigsaws, mah jong, movies, music, petanque, pool, reading, sing-alongs and Wii computer games that keep you fit and sharp.
