Selwyn Oaks Rest Home Care

 Selwyn Oaks has a 43 bed rest home, looking out on to garden areas. Purpose built on one level, the rest home (with hospital adjoining) is fresh, clean and up to date.  Each resident has a single room, with its own adjoining toilet and hand basin.  There are lounges for residents and visitors, and some foyers open out onto sunny interior courtyards.

Visitors are welcome.  Residents are encouraged to decorate their rooms with items of their own personal taste such as curtains, pictures, photos, treasured mementos, furniture and their own television sets.

 Facilities and Catering

  • a phone is available in any room for a monthly fee or residents may arrange a rental through Telecom
  • newspapers can be delivered on request
  • appointments such as for hair, podiatrist, physiotherapy, dentist, optician or personal doctor can be arranged via the receptionist or care staff.
  • the Oaks’ doctor visits regularly.
  • shopping can be organised via the Mini market at the Village
  • there is a library, and regular visits are made by the Papakura librarians
  • a laundry facility is available
  • special diets and appetites are catered for. If guests visit for lunch or dinner, they are welcome
  • the rest home is fitted with smoke detectors and sprinklers
  • there is a chapel on site

Standard Room features include:

  • 3.6 x 3.6 metre room size
  • Personal hand basin and toilet
  • Built in wardrobe
  • Built in cupboard
  • Standard beds

 Activities

  • weekly happy hours, reading, crosswords, bingo, quizzes, carpet bowls, music, sing along, newspaper reading, celebrations are organised
  • outings and shopping trips, and walks are also organised by Selwyn staff special events for Mother’s Day, birthdays and so on celebrated activities also include: art, billiards, bingo, board games, bowls, bridge, cards, classical music, concerts, craft, dancing, entertainment, exercise classes, jigsaws, mah jong, movies, music, petanque, pool, reading, sing-alongs.
